Chapel WarsAcclaimed author Lindsey Leavitt brings her trademark heart, humor, and romance to her hometown–Vegas
Sixteen-year-old Holly wants to remember her Grandpa forever, but she’d rather forget what he left her in his will: his wedding chapel on the Las Vegas strip. Whatever happened to gold watches, savings bonds, or some normal inheritance?

And then there’s Grandpa’s letter. Not only is she running the business with her recently divorced parents, but she needs to make some serious money–fast. Grandpa also insists Holly reach out to Dax, the grandson of her family’s mortal enemy and owner of the cheesy chapel next door. No matter how cute Dax is, Holly needs to stay focused: on her group of guy friends, her disjointed family, work, school and… Dax. No wait, not Dax.

Holly’s chapel represents everything she’s ever loved in her past. Dax might be everything she could ever love in the future. But as for right now, there’s a wedding chapel to save.

An ARC of this title was sent to me from the publisher without intention of anything in return. The Chapel Wars by Lindsey Leavitt will be released from Bloomsbury May 6th, 2014.

Not only is this an ARC review, but it’s my very first Put It In a Nutshell! review. Lately, I’ve been so busy that I don’t get to read as many reviews as I want to any more. So for busy readers like me, I’ve decided to start doing a few of my reviews with the “put it in a nutshell” method.

Or, on a nutshell, I should say:

Here’s my thoughts on The Chapel Wars in a nutshell!

Cracking the nutshell open a bit A.K.A. some Elaboration

ChapelWars2

I was so excited to get The Chapel Wars in the mail!

* This book definitely has some scenes that will make you laugh.

* I’m a Lindsey Leavitt fan and have read all of her books, and I’m happy to say that Leavitt fans will not be disappointed by this one!

* There were so many different quirky characters that added to the story. I also was really able to connect to the main character, Holly, especially since I recently lost my Grandfather too and was going through a lot of the emotions she was. Aside from that, I think she does have a relateable voice in general.

* Although Cynical Cindy would like to point out that she felt it lagged a bit in the middle and the book could’ve been a bit shorter.

* The setting was awesome! Vegas? All the crazy things to see in Vegas? The setting definitely made the story!

All in all:
